The History of Kinergetics

Since 2008, Kinergetics prides itself on its ability to maintain high standards and continually exceed customer expectations while keeping a small staff

1993

Tom Tucker (Founder) Graduates From UW-Madison School Of Engineering with a degree in Chemical Engineering

1996-2000

Tom is introduced to the world of plant processes and operations as well as the energy world. He moves from Wisconsin to Texas and back to Wisconsin again where he starts to work for Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy.

2000-2006

Following a 3 year tenure with Wisconsin Focus on Energy, Tom accepted a position with a local energy efficiency consulting firm. He continued to support the Wisconsin Focus on Energy program and the process industry through technical evaluations and developing energy management programs.  Additionally, Tom developed a robust energy efficiency assessment and reporting software program, working with software developers in the United States and abroad.

2006

Tom started Kinergetics LLC in 2006 with a focus on detailed energy efficiency investigations for the process industry.  His efforts with Wisconsin Focus on Energy continued, and in addition he began performing steam system assessments and efficiency training at large industrial facilities around the country for the US Department of Energy as well as directly for industry.

2008

In 2008 Kinergetics began engineering and design services and the request of several customers in the ethanol industry.

While still performing efficiency investigations, the engineering and design efforts opened a new chapter leading Kinergetics to develop proprietary equipment and system designs for a number of challenging industrial operations.

These include fermenter pump control, heat recovery from “dirty” exhaust, corn oil extraction preheating systems, high efficiency evaporation processes and “open column” direct contact heat recovery systems; these are now in operation in three countries.

2008 - Present

After over a decade supporting industry in the United States, South America, Mexico, Canada and Europe, Kinergetics is continuing to develop its capabilities and outreach.

This has been done through Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and wastewater/water reduction not only for industry, but also for hospitals, hotels and large laundromats due to the efficiency improvement and cost reduction opportunities that exist.

Today, Kinergetics is still small but staffed by chemical engineers with a passion for understanding facility operations and energy performance to uncover opportunity where it seemed none may have existed before.
